Professional Forestry Consulting Experience
As the owner/operator, I have more than 25 years of forestry experience. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Forestry in 1987 at the University of Alberta. I worked as a Forestry Consultant in Alberta and became a Professional Forester. In 1991, I moved to British Columbia to continue my forestry career with the Provincial Government. Initially, I monitored timber harvesting activities but later held positions focused on woodlot management, timber sales, timber pricing, and land use planning for the Ministry of Forests. I then left the Ministry of Forests and worked as a Senior Forester for SBS Forestry Consulting. I worked with Woodlot Licence holders to develop plans for their private and public forest land holdings.
How My Expertise Benefits Woodlot Owners
Woodlot owners have a range of values and uses they obtain of their forest. Silva Lining can assist them with identifying objectives and strategies to meet existing and potential goals. Silva Lining benefits woodlot holders by helping them meet the standards set in the Forest Enhancement Program for PEI in order to receive program incentives and credits while achieving their goals. These standards are set up and described in the Ecosystem-based Forest Management Manual (PDF).
Continuous Learning & Improvement
Forestry research into areas such as climate change and the ability of our forest species to adapt to these changes is ongoing. Research into forest pests and other areas of forest management continues. Silva Lining keeps current by attending workshops, video conferences, reading forestry articles and research as well as networking with other professionals managing forestry and environmental resources. Improvements are then made to forestry consulting services provided to woodland owners.
